Our principles
Good apps protect privacy. These principles guide every app we distribute under the nxtbgthng name. The detailed policy below covers this website and Wallflower.
We don’t want your data
Apple provides app developers with aggregated App Store statistics. We see usage and diagnostic data only if you’ve chosen to share it. We think that’s enough data. Our apps have no tracking or analytics of their own, and they don’t phone home to us.
Where it makes sense, we use Apple’s iCloud infrastructure. This lets data sync between your devices without us being able to access it.
No invasive third-party frameworks
Our apps don’t use invasive third-party frameworks that collect more data than they need for their job. We won’t use a framework that leaves us in doubt about what it is really doing.
We also minimise third-party dependencies, avoid cross-platform toolkits, and use built-in functionality wherever possible. Every dependency is code we don’t fully control, so we keep that code to a minimum.
Transparent communication
When a feature asks you to send us something private, we show you exactly what it will send. Support happens by email. If you include diagnostics, they are clearly visible as attachments to the email. You can review them, remove them, or not send the message at all.
Only the data that is needed
Some features can’t work without passing data to a service. Weather can’t work without a location, for example. Wallflower sends only the coordinate you selected to Apple WeatherKit, which Apple says it does not associate with your identity. We don’t receive it.
Sustainable business model
Making good apps costs a lot of time and money. Maintaining them means working with constant change. An app is never “done”.
That’s why we charge a fair price for our apps. It lets us keep developing them without showing ads or selling your data.

Website
Hosting with GitHub Pages
We host this static website with GitHub Pages. The provider is GitHub, Inc., 88 Colin P. Kelly Jr. Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. When you access the site, GitHub logs, in particular, your IP address and technical data about the request. GitHub states that it stores the IP address for security purposes. We do not receive these server logs and do not compile our own visitor statistics.
This processing is necessary to deliver the website securely. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR; our legitimate interest is the secure and reliable operation of the website. GitHub also processes data in the USA and other third countries. For transfers from the EU, GitHub relies on the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and, where necessary, Standard Contractual Clauses. GitHub retains personal data for as long as necessary for the respective purpose and to comply with legal obligations. Website preferences
Your browser stores preferences such as your language choice in local storage. These entries are not transmitted to us and remain until you delete the website data in your browser. They are necessary to apply the preferences you selected (Section 25(2)(2) TDDDG).
When you write to us, we process the sender and recipient details, the content, attachments, and technical metadata of the message. We use this data to handle your request and document the communication. If it concerns a contract or a pre-contractual request, the legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR; in all other cases, it is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR based on our legitimate interest in orderly and traceable communication. We process business records that must be retained by law on the basis of Article 6(1)(c) GDPR.
Our email service provider is Fastmail Pty Ltd., Australia, which we use as a processor. Fastmail also processes data in third countries; the EU Standard Contractual Clauses apply to necessary transfers. Further information is available in the Data Processing Agreement.
We retain email correspondence for as long as we need it to handle and document the respective matter. We then delete it unless a statutory retention obligation applies or further storage is necessary to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
Newsletter
We offer an occasional English-language newsletter. You sign up on an external Mailchimp page. The provider is The Rocket Science Group LLC d/b/a Mailchimp, USA. Mailchimp processes your email address, subscription and confirmation status, timestamps, your consent or its withdrawal, and technical evidence of the subscription on our behalf.
Delivery is based on your consent under Article 6(1)(a) GDPR. Sign-up uses a double opt-in procedure: the subscription is activated only after you follow the link in the confirmation email. You may withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future using the unsubscribe link in every issue. Campaign tracking, segmentation, profiling, and A/B testing are disabled.
Mailchimp also processes the data in the USA as our processor. Mailchimp relies on the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and, where necessary, the EU Standard Contractual Clauses for these transfers. Details are available in the Data Processing Addendum and Mailchimp’s information about European data transfers.
Unconfirmed sign-ups receive no newsletter and are deleted. We retain data for active subscriptions for the duration of the subscription. After you withdraw consent or unsubscribe, we retain the data necessary to demonstrate your consent and its withdrawal for as long as this evidence may be required; this is determined by the statutory limitation periods. We may retain a minimal suppression record for longer where this is necessary to honour your unsubscribe request permanently.
Wallflower
No transmission to us
Wallflower has no account, tracking, or analytics system of its own. The app does not transmit any data to us during normal use.
Weather and purchases
If you enable weather data, Wallflower transmits the selected coordinate to Apple WeatherKit to retrieve the forecast. Apple states that it does not associate the coordinate with your identity. More information is available in Apple’s Weather & Privacy notice.
Apple handles subscriptions and purchases through the App Store. Apple is responsible for payment, the App Store account, and retention of transaction data.
App Store statistics and diagnostics
Apple provides us with aggregated App Store statistics and anonymous crash diagnostics in App Store Connect. Usage and quality metrics derived from device data are available only where users have enabled the sharing of diagnostics and usage data; Apple also applies privacy thresholds to certain metrics. Their availability and retention are governed by Apple’s rules.
Support by email
Support is provided by email and is subject to the rules for email communication described above. You can send a message without diagnostic data or explicitly choose to generate diagnostic attachments. Depending on how you use Wallflower, these attachments may contain HomeKit configuration and status values, app and iCloud settings, chart and weather data, App Store receipts and transaction information, and device, system, and app information.
Before sending, the Mail app shows you the message and its attachments. You can review or remove them, or cancel sending. We receive this data only when you send it. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR to the extent that the communication concerns support for Wallflower.
Your rights
Subject to the applicable statutory requirements, you have the right to access (Article 15 GDPR), rectification (Article 16), erasure (Article 17), restriction of processing (Article 18), and data portability (Article 20). You may withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future.
You may object at any time, on grounds relating to your particular situation, to processing based on Article 6(1)(f) GDPR (Article 21 GDPR).
